To ignore that then go into a sexual harassment/rape storyline just seemed out of touch. Not to mention it fell flat for me because in the first half of the book Olivia was constantly sexually harassing Asher with her comments. I give the author credit for including a trigger warning of sexual assault in the preface but when it got to that part it all just still seemed too much for a Christmas rom-com. In an effort to ungrinch the grinchiest man shes ever met, Olivia enlists herself, Santas Executive Helper, to scheme up a plan that includes sleigh rides. The first half was fun and cute but then we get to the second half of the book, and it just was not the fun cute Christmas book that I signed up for. Faking Under the Mistletoe made me laugh so much, but it wasnt a shallow book and had a lot of depth plus a handful of moments that brought tears to my eyes. However, they did have great banter together. It was a cute premise, but I don’t get how they kept trying to pass off Olivia using his credit card to continuously buy him things he did not want as some cutesy thing. While at a Christmas event that Olivia organized, she decides to “help” Asher by pretending to be his girlfriend when they run into his ex-girlfriend. Olivia Langley loves Christmas and everything that goes with it. The first half definitely delivered what I want from holiday books but then it all took a turn I did not expect nor want during the holidays. Faking Under The Mistletoe by Ashley Shepherd seemed like the Christmas book I was craving during the holiday season. Faking Under the Mistletoe is fake dating / enemies to lovers / work place relationship story that was exactly what my Holiday Heart and Reading Soul needed.
